There Will Be No "Hot Tub Meta"
Let’s start with the ‘big’ stuff. As threatened, we’re drawing closer to releasing our TTRPG shenanigans out into the world. However, it’s occurred to me that you may have no idea what such an acronym means.
“But Jason, we’re here because we like watching you be a moron on YouTube!”
I understand. And I thank you, so let me explain something else that I will foist upon you, if you’ll allow it.
TTRPG = Table Top Role Playing Game
It’s Dungeons and Dragons. That’s where we’ll start, but I’m planning so much more than that - horror, espionage, etc.
But first, I’ll be steering some intrepid friends through a fantasy world of my own creation, one entrenched in Dungeons and Dragons tropes and mechanics. It’s an interesting bit of interactive storytelling, but with rules. That’s what the dice are for, after all. I’ve selected some familiar faces (and some new ones!) to journey with us into this messy, weird, and often horrific mindspace.
I don’t have an exact date for you yet, but it’s coming sooner than you think. In just a few weeks, most likely.
In the realm of fantasy, there is perhaps no bigger name than Mr. Brandon Sanderson. I’m not incredibly familiar with his work. I’ve read the first ‘MistBorn’ novel and I’m aware that he was handed the keys to Robert Jordan’s sprawling ‘Wheel of Time’ series. You may have heard of his recent kickstarter.
Jesus. Tapdancing. Christ.
His kickstarter asked for 1 million dollars to fund his writing of four novels.
Sit with that for a second.
That’s an audacious ask, but he received 41 MILLION.
To write four novels.
Tell you what … give me 41 million? I’ll write FIVE novels. I will write them about whatever you like. Romance? Historical fiction? Sasquatch orgy porn? I’ll do it. I don’t care. I can be bought quite easily.
Nonetheless, Sanderson seems like an affable guy who knows what he’s doing. He has a lengthy series of lectures available on YouTube
